Refreshing cool of inlaid floor on soles of barest feet
Pull of muscles moving arms and legs in common beat
Caress of soothing air that’s perfumed warm and sweet
I take refuge in the lama, Buddha, dharma and sangha
Bowing beings wave like windswept prairie wheat in West
Earth trembles as by countless knees and palms impressed
Pulses throb and hearts pound hard in yearning chests
I take refuge in the lama, Buddha, dharma and sangha
Bells ring softly amidst rustling leaves in heavenly tree
Sacred letters intone ancient truths’ pure energy
Wise and loving masters murmur blessings sure to free
I take refuge in the lama, Buddha, dharma and sangha.
