In the beginning, impossible!
Like pi and the speed of light
Like the number of galaxies in the cosmos
A mind-stopping thought
An absurd imaginary number
The only thing to do is start
In the middle, heroic quest
A haunted herculean effort
To hit the siren lofty mark
Beset by doubts and excuses
The glacial tally taunts while I’m slow to trust
The “x” in the equation
In the end, only grace
Beyond hope or fear or goal
In the end, it turns out there is no end
No calculating habit
No sums to add
No one to do the math
